Back in 2012 when I last presented the works of my various artists, it was clear that there were problems within the group, then comprising Amy Blum, Liam Crowe, Graham Leroy and Stella Darby (GSDesigns), Naomi Kane, and of course Julia Spicer.
Graham and Stella were on the verge of splitting up their working partnership following the revelation that Stella and Amy had begun a relationship and the two were planning on moving to the U.S. where Amy wished to develop her DJing work.
Naomi Kane had made no secret of the fact that her scientific work took precedence over any artistic distractions and was relocating to the South Pacific to continue her studies on the New Caledonian Crow. Liam had been struggling with mental health problems following his residency at the Mauna Kea Observatory, Hawaii.
So it was decided that the group should have a final outing, an afternoon walking with wolves in Berkshire with the Wolf Conservation Trust. Naomi in the end couldn’t join us because of a complication with plane tickets but the rest of us set off that day eagerly anticipating the experience.
Unfortunately on the way there, the taxi carrying Graham, Stella, Amy and Liam was involved in a head on collision with an armoured vehicle transporting soldiers returning to Arborfield Garrison. It should be said however, that Julia and I were able to thoroughly enjoy our time with the wolves, as we were blissfully unaware of the tragedy that had unfolded. Here is one of the snaps taken on the day.
Liam was the only survivor and drifts in and out of coma, but I still promote his work and the sculptures he has made in occupational therapy when he is able, to which his family have kindly given me access
I’m now happy however to promote the work of Sara Kobylarz and Cissy Stamm, two new additions to my group.
